What is Practical Spirituality and what does it look like?

Practical Spirituality means bringing awareness and consciousness into everything you do. It is understanding that spirituality isn’t confined to when you meditate, practice yoga, attending a church service or whatever practice you consider to be spiritual.

When I was in my 20’s, I remember times of being alone in my car, driving on some open road and screaming at the top of my lungs. The frustration, anger and overwhelm would get to a boiling point and it felt like if I didn’t release it, I would explode.I didn’t know what (or why) I needed to release until years later.

When I look back at my life, it felt like I had been dealing with some sort of physical ailment since I was young. I experienced childhood asthma, adult asthma and overall physical weakness. Up until I started focusing consciously on my health, I don’t ever remember a feeling of vibrancy.

I have been teaching Transformation classes since 2002 and the one thing I always share with anyone taking my classes is that if the tools we are calling ‘Transformation Tools’ are not transforming any aspect of your life, then you cannot call them Transformation Tools.

My mother was a storyteller. For as long as I can remember, and especially as I got older, she would sit at the end of a visit and share stories from her childhood. The stories she told gave me wonderful insights into her life and what shaped her to become the mother I knew.

A few years ago, I was invited to dowse a home and property. During the process of dowsing the home, the owner informed me that their pet dog constantly ran away and would be gone for hours.

When dowsing the property, I found several geopathic stress lines in the backyard and a negative vortex.

A few years ago, I read an article about a cat named Oscar who lived in a nursing home and had the ability to predict the passing of a resident. A few hours before someone died, the cat would curl up with them until they passed.

So with the map laid out on the table in front of me, I ‘tuned into’ the energy of the city and asked my dowsing rods where it would be beneficial for us to begin our search for our new home. I trusted my dowsing rods as they pointed me in the direction of the western suburbs.

I have always loved dying Easter eggs.

I especially remember the colors of my childhood, before the new designer colors. These were the soft, gentle colors of spring … soft blues, yellows, greens along with pink, lilac and aqua. These colors have always reminded me of the tenderness of spring as the world around us comes to life.

Imagine your home in a valley surrounded by tall weeds blocking any light that might have come in. The dowsing of your home not only removes the weeds but elevates your home to a higher elevation where more light can enter your home. It’s like bringing your home to the top of a hill where light can enter from any direction.

What is Dowsing?

A very simple definition of dowsing that I like to use: ‘a technique that helps us find something that we cannot see with our physical eyes.’

The dowsing tool used can be a pair of dowsing rods, a pendulum, and even branches of a tree. Dowsing is an ancient technique that has been used for thousands of years and the most recent use that many are familiar with is something called ‘water witching.’
